Alumni Affiliation Awards 2021 Senior Honor Citations

The Arkansas Alumni Association have regarded U of A graduating seniors Jissel Esparza Saucedo of Jonesboro and Emily Richey of Paris with the 2021 Senior Honor Citation. 

The award was introduced by Mark Power, vice chancellor of development, at the summary of the celebration on April 30.

Proven in 1965 by the Arkansas Alumni Affiliation, the award acknowledges a senior male and woman university student who every exhibits outstanding academic accomplishment, leadership competencies and co-curricular things to do at the U of A.

The staff members of the Arkansas Alumni Affiliation honored all exceptional seniors with three celebrations on Friday, April 30, in the Verizon Ballroom of the Arkansas Union. 

In the course of the celebration, the Arkansas Alumni Affiliation recognized the Course of 2021 Seniors of Importance and Razorback Vintage awardees. Every year, college students are proposed by college and team and invited to apply for the Senior Awards program.

To guidance an inclusive and equitable assortment system, the association determined to clear away gender from the range requirements for Razorback Classics and Senior Honor Citations as a way to diversify the swimming pools of both applicants and reviewers.  

As the winners of the Senior Honor Quotation, Esparza Saucedo and Richey obtained everyday living memberships in the Arkansas Alumni Affiliation and permanent recognition on a plaque at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni Household. They will be invited again to campus to characterize their course at occasions, like speaking at their Senior Stroll perseverance. 

JISSEL ESPARZA SAUCEDO 

Esparza Saucedo was the 2020-21 student system treasurer and also experienced quite a few other roles inside the Involved Pupil Govt. She has been an energetic member of Chi Omega, wherever she served as director of alumni relations amid other roles. She also balanced her co-curricular commitments and difficult educational plan with an internship at General Mills, logging in excess of 100 several hours of volunteer company in Northwest Arkansas, and mentoring 20 Latinx learners at J.O. EMILY RICHEY 

Emily Richey has been a U of A Honors College Fellow from 2017-21. Additionally, she held leadership roles throughout campus which include serving as president and treasurer of Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Clinical Honor Modern society, chaplain and philanthropy committee member for Kappa Kappa Gamma, and board member for the Office environment of Financial Affairs with the Affiliated Student Government. 

Richey has done hundreds of company several hours and received awards for both her philanthropic and tutorial achievements. Her dedication to her chosen field of medication is reflected in the eight hrs for every 7 days she expended in Suresh Kumar’s biochemistry analysis lab in the course of her higher education profession and in the comprehensive shadowing and intercontinental research overseas prospects of which she availed herself.

Richey is a biochemistry important in the Fulbright Higher education of Arts and Sciences.
