Metropolis officers Wednesday announced the demise of former Councilwoman Jody Hubbard, who disclosed previous August that she experienced been diagnosed with lung cancer and resigned from the council in January.
Hubbard died on Monday. She was 64.
“The complete group mourns the passing of our beloved previous colleague, Councilmember Jody Hubbard,” said Mayor Catherine Blakespear. “She was a vibrant member of our local community and served Encinitas with difference — initially as an engaged citizen, then as a metropolis commissioner and for nearly two yrs as a councilmember representing district 3, which included her dwelling in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.”
Blakespear will adjourn the city council conference on Wednesday in Hubbard’s memory.
