Texas Modern society of CPAs honors two with 2020 Fantastic Accounting Educator Award
The Texas Culture of CPAs has named Dr. Marina Ruseva, assistant professor of accounting at Lamar College, and Michelle Avila, affiliate professor of accounting at Our Woman of the Lake College, as the recipients of the 2020 Remarkable Accounting Educator Award. The winners had been declared through TXCPA’s digital Midyear Board and Associates Conference, held on Jan. 27, 2021.
The award highlights Texas educators who have “shown excellence in instructing and who have distinguished themselves via energetic provider to the accounting occupation.” Requirements for award recipients include elements these types of as teaching innovation, pursuit of finding out possibilities for learners, involvement in student and expert accounting companies, and analysis publications.
Dr. Ruseva joined Lamar University in 2019, previously serving as a investigation assistant and instructor at the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer University of Business. A study paper she authored, “Executive Equity Compensation and Company Tax Habits: Checking out the Position of Cash ETR Persistence,” was awarded the 2020 Distinguished Paper award at the Federation of Organization Disciplines annual conference.
Michelle Avlia joined OLLU in 2011, earlier operating as an accounting instructor at DeVry College from 2011-2012, and as a direct teacher at Becker Specialist Instruction from 2004-2011. In 2020, Avila introduced the OLLU Saints Accounting Club to endorse consciousness of the accounting job and CPA license.
